How We Got Here

Empathy Based School Innovations was born on a train ride in New York City in December of 2019. My sister and I were riding a train to Manhattan marveling at our humble beginnings when somewhere hidden in the architecture of the cityscape, I saw a familiar building in an unfamiliar setting; “Look- a school!” My sister followed my gaze and said, “You never miss them!” and we both smiled. I often reflect on the 25 years I spent working in education throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and am honored to have impacted the lives of young people through education. In this next chapter of my professional journey I intend to continue to empower young people and their families beyond the classroom.
